This is my wife and her 496 Chevelle. Pump gas, flat tappet,dual plane, 3:31 gears, 3500 stall,full exhaust, 3800 lbs, old ET Streets. She uses it to get groceries and takes it to her Mary Kay appointments. All three of our kids LOVE riding in the back and going cruising. She averages 13 mpg on the highway with the 750 double. Update 7/07- On 93 octane, the budget 496 made 548HP at 5900 rpm and 574TQ with big tube (2 1/4″) headers at the crank on a Superflow 902 dyno. UPDATE 11/08- After three years and 5k street miles, 10 dyno pulls, and 50+ passes at the track, Leah has run a best of 11.57 @115.48 on pump gas and M/T Drag radials, all motor. We tried a Powershot system on it 11/1/08, and with a 1/2 throttle launch went 11.07@120mph.
